Authorities tranquilized a mother bear and her cub and gave them a lift back into the forest after they stopped in for a visit in a La Crescenta neighborhood on Friday, officials said.
The bears were first spotted about 10 a.m., meandering through a backyard in the 2500 block of Cross Street, according to Deputy Lisa Jansen of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Information Bureau.
Deputies responded and kept an eye on the animals until they climbed up into a tree and took a nap, Jansen said in a written statement.
“The California Department of Fish and Wildilfe arrived and shot tranquilizer darts at both bears in order to safely control them,” she said. “Both bears were safely transported by California Fish and Wildlife personnel back into the wild where they live.”
