WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Dodgers hit three home runs in the first two innings and cruised to a 7-0 victory over the Washington Nationals on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series between the National League’s top two teams.

The Dodgers have now won three consecutive games since breaking their 11-game losing streak. Friday’s win cut their magic number to clinch the NL West to six and to clinch the best record in the NL over the Nationals to 10.

Justin Turner, Yasiel Puig and Corey Seager hit home runs off Nationals starter Edwin Jackson with Seager’s driving in three. Chase Utley and Andre Ethier also had doubles (Ethier’s lost in the sky by Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth) as the Dodgers scored seven times in the first three innings.
