Kaepernick not signed because of bad play, not protest

Michael Vick understands what it’s like to have NFL teams shy away because of off-field issues.

His situation, of course, involved a federal guilty charges for taking part in a dog-righting ring — rather than the national anthem protest quarterback Colin Kaepernick undertook last season while with the 49ers.

Vick found his way back to the NFL, starting 48 games over seven years with several teams, and the former Falcons star thinks Kaepernick will too. Once there’s a backup spot open, that is.

“The stand that he took has nothing to do with him not having a job and playing in the National Football League right now,” Vick told Jason Whitlock on Fox Sports 1. “And being frank, Colin didn’t have the best two years his last two seasons. It wasn’t as productive as what we’ve seen him do.”
