The Madonna panties saga has taken a new twist.
After charging that former friend Darlene Lutz had stolen her underwear, the Material Girl has now admitted under oath there’s no real evidence behind her claim, according to a report from TMZ.
The new information reportedly comes from a transcript of Madonna’s deposition in the case where she’s suing Lutz for allegedly stealing her panties and other items, including a letter from rapper Tupac Shakur.
Lawyers for Lutz reportedly asked Madonna, “Do you have any good-faith basis to allege that my client, Darlene Lutz, took these underwear from you?”
“I do not.”
Madonna’s panties, the Tupac letter and dozens of personal items were going up for bid through the auction house Gotta Have Rock and Roll, until the singer “got an emergency order blocking the auction, claiming the goods were stolen,” according to TMZ.
Also, it seems there is quite a back story to these undies.
Madonna admitted that she mailed the worn panties to former boyfriend Peter Shue, but didn’t know if he ever received them and, thus, believes she still might have ownership of them, according to TMZ.
“You’re not claiming in this lawsuit that those underwear are still your property, are you?” Lutz’s lawyer reportedly asked.
Madonna reportedly responded that it depends on whether Shue received them or not.
For the record, Shue reportedly told TMZ that he did receive them.
This is apparently not the only time that Madonna has mailed her underwear.
“In addition to Peter Shue, how many boyfriends have you sent panties to?” Madonna was asked in the deposition, according to TMZ.
Madonna’s lawyer then advised her: “You don’t have to answer that.”
Madonna then reportedly chimes in:
