Our best bets for this weekend are country superstar Sam Hunt, hip-hop hero Kendrick Lamar and comedians Steve Martin and Martin Short.
Country music’s hottest artist
Who’s hotter than Sam Hunt? The correct answer might just be, well, nobody. His career is absolutely skyrocketing, having scored no less than five hit singles from his blockbuster debut, “Montevallo.” The rising country music star’s latest smash is “Body Like a Backroad,” an omnipresent slow jam that seems to get played about every 10 minutes on the radio. The bill also includes Maren Morris, who is one of country’s most promising singer-songwriters, as well as Chris Janson and Ryan Follese. Details: 7 p.m. Aug. 11; Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View; $26-$65.50, www.livenation.com.
More Kendrick Lamar
Having just performed at the Oracle Arena in Oakland last weekend, SoCal superstar Kendrick Lamar is already heading back to the Bay Area. The hip-hop hero is touring in support of his fourth full-length album, “Damn,” which debuted at No. 1 on the pop charts back in April. YG and D.R.A.M. are also on the bill. Details: 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12; SAP Center, San Jose; $49.50-$129.50, www.ticketmaster.com.
Laugh it up
It’s time for some funny business, courtesy of two legendary comedians – Steve Martin and Martin Short. Steve Martin, of course, is known for such classics as “The Jerk” and “Roxanne,” while Martin Short is probably best remembered for his time on “Saturday Night Live.” The two funnymen have starred in some films together, including “Three Amigos.” Also on the bill is Steve Martin’s popular bluegrass act, the Steep Canyon Rangers. Details: 8 p.m. Aug. 11; Concord Pavilion; $29.50-$175, www.livenation.com.
