While the Warriors are planning an eventual move to San Francisco in two years, they will wear a uniform that highlights their current connection to Oakland.

The Warriors said they will wear Oakland-themed jerseys for most Saturday regular-season home games as well as select road contests for the 2016-17 campaign, beginning Nov. 25 against the New Orleans Pelicans at the Oracle. The Warriors will not wear the Oakland-based jerseys for Saturday home games, however, on Nov. 11 against Philadelphia and Feb. 24 against Oklahoma City, the latter game devoted to an unspecified tribute toward the Chinese New Year.

The Oakland-based uniforms, which the NBA and Nike featured as part of a league-wide jersey unveiling at a press conference on Friday in Los Angeles, offers a new twist on Golden State’s “The City” design. The jersey will have “The Town” displayed over a circle of the City of Oakland tree logo.

Though the Warriors did this to honor it home city since leaving San Francisco in 1971, the Warriors said they still plan to showcase “The City” jerseys in future seasons. They will likely switch between “The City” and “The Town” uniforms in alternating years. The Warriors are scheduled to move to Chase Center in San Francisco for the 2019-20 season.

The Athletic Bay Area’s Marcus Thompson first reported the news surroudnign the Warriors’ Oakland-centered uniforms.
